Walking around Villa Sea Rose

#1 The small beach of Portinente

Even though now there isn’t much left, one Portinente was the beach of the locals. Yes because this small bay has always had a historical value such as to bring it to be registered in “The Book of Symbolic Spaces“, one of the six books of the “”Register of Immaterial Heritage of Sicily””.
According to a very ancient tradition, in fact, on the beach of Porto delle Genti navigating on the waters of the sea, arrived the coffin containing the body of San Bartolomeo (became patron of the Aeolian Islands), February 13, 264 a.D.

And in the morning the air is calm and warm. Enjoy a quick swim before breakfast, or after a day of trekking, from our apartments it’s only 50 meters away!”

#2 The Paintings at Supa A Terra

In 1997 a bare but equally lively area of the historic center was brought to light. With the painters Luciana Livi and Italo Campagnoli, the characteristic of these murals is that they were all executed by the same hand and according to a harmonious project of recovery.
In 2017, after the natural wear due to the typical humidity of the islands, the painter and her collaborator returned to give new life to this little square.

Walk by the small houses, discover fragments of daily life. You will be charmed by the colours of the flower pots, amused by the history in every corner or overwhelmed by the delicious smell of tomato sauce floating in the air as you walk by.

#3 Marina Corta: the fishermen village

Marina Corta is not only the most important square of the old town, but most importantly it’s considered the “fishermen village”. All year round you can see real local fishermen setting sail towards the horizon, or unwinding fishnets at sunset.
This charming square is a pleasant place for afternoon breaks and evening walks, full of bars, restaurants and live music shows. The wonderful alleys (the famous “vicoli”) scattered around the square come with a paving stone, narrow streets framed by small balconies with wrought iron railings and colourful plants. Marina Corta is also the departing point for any boat excursion with typical “gozzo” boats.

On the 24th August we celebrate in Marina Corta the saint patron Saint Bartholomew with fireworks and a 3-day festival.
